George's

A few days ago I caught up with my some of my close friends and went for brunch with them at George's on Camberwell. I ordered a pumpkin pide because I saw one of the contestants on My Kitchen Rules cooking it and it looked delicious...I swear they gave me a sandwich not a pide even though it is still really tasty. I swear that roasted pumpkin can convert me to a vegetarian.

Behold...a Turkish pide. I was expecting something like this to arrive on my table :(

Afterwards I had the whole day off, so I decided to crash a photography lecture with my friend. Even though we only stayed for one hour, I actually learned so much about different camera functions and photography tricks that I can definitely put into use for blogging! After the lecture, my friend helped me snap a few photos of the outfit I was wearing that day.

We moped around the city for a bit, and passed this little Asian drink place called Cha time that has become quite popular recently, I keep hearing about it from my friends haha. So we decided to try it out (and conveniently use it as shelter from the rain), and I got one of their best sellers - lychee black tea. It was a refreshing drink, but definitely way overpriced haha I still like Bubble Cup better :P

I really liked their cute interior though, it's the same colour as the sweater I was wearing!

Thanks Moonie for all the photos (plus the awesome day) ily tons!

DIY: Circle Skirt

Hey guys, I have a super easy and quick DIY project to share with you today :)
The heat in Melbourne has been killing me for the past week, and has consistently stayed at around 30 degrees Celsius or more everyday. All of a sudden, I start seeing colorful, flowy circle skirts everywhere on the streets, at uni, in shopping malls, paired with tank tops, tied up shirts and crop tops. I really love how the structure of this skirt just accentuate the waist and hide any bulges at the tummy, hips or highs. I think the a-line silhouette is so feminine and flattering, so I decided to try and make my own circle skirt from scratch!
Here is how it turned out - the whole DIY took me around 3 hours to complete:

First step: choose the fabric for your circle skirt! I chose a pastel lilac colour for mine - for some reason the colour doesn't really stay true on my camera :(

Then, fold the piece of fabric in half, and then in half again, so it ends up being a quarter of the size of the original!

Now, measure the smallest part of your waist (or wherever you want your skirt to sit) and sketch out two circle-quarters (a smaller one inside a larger one) onto your fabric according to this guide:
Important: Remember to add at least 2cm to measurement for hemming!

Here is the outline for my skirt:

Cut carefully, tracing the outlines that you had drawn on in the previous step.

And when you unfold it, you should end up with a donut-shaped piece of fabric!

Now, all you need to do is add a zip, hem to prevent fraying and you will end up with a versatile skirt that's perfect for summer! :)

Steve Madden: Livv

I was in the city with my friend the other day and we saw that Steve Madden was having a 30% off already reduced items. So I took the opportunity to splurge on my first pair of heels/wedges from Steve Madden! I chose these for the insane cork platform. Actually, I realised that I don't own any shoes with this type of wooden/cork heel - they do get a bit slippery on tile floorings, so I put some rubber soles to add extra grip.

I love these shoes so much and I can't wait to start wearing them out casually. I was talking to my friend and we both agree that even though we love high heeled shoes very much, we rarely find opportunities to wear them (apart from parties/dinner). Rather, we don't have the guts to wear heels out casually, for the fear that we will stand out and draw negative attention to ourselves. So my fashion goal for this year is to just wear whatever I want, and care less about how other people will judge me by what I wear. What I find strange is that, while "fashion" encourages us to express our individuality with clothing, we still feel limited to dress in certain ways. But, as long as I'm comfortable and confident, being different really shouldn't be one of my worries.

I know that I haven't blogged in a long time. A lot of things happened and for a long time I just feel like blogging has become a hassle rather than something that I enjoy, because I'm always worried about my blog views etc. So I've decided that from now on, I'll blog more about things that I truly want to write about, instead of just posts that I think readers will be interested in. I want to keep this blog going so that when I move to the UK to study, my family and friends in Melbourne can continue to share my life. So this blog will not only be my creative outlet, but also a way for me to keep in touch with the people I love :)

Heatwave

My friends and I went sales shopping on Chapel St today with a nice, freezing,
cup of mango slurpee to try and survive the Australia heat wave. First world problems, right? :)

Bracelet-Sportsgirl/Sunnies - Dotti

Thank you to Moonie for taking these outfit photos! :)

I just realised that I actually look very pale in most of these photos because of the exposure settings on my camera. So here is a photo to prove that I am actually quite tanned, as most Asians are :D

 Leaning on a scooter...like a boss!

Delicious tacos topped with chicken, sour cream, salsa and guacamole from Amigos

The past couple of days has been quite stressful - my exam results were released, which basically reflect the courses that I can get into at Melbourne University. Then, on the same night, the outcomes for my college interviews came out, so yay for more stress!

But now, I finally feel like everything is over, and I can focus on other aspects of my life such as blogging, getting a part time job, and university. That's why I've been going sales shopping for uni haha! I was going through my wardrobe the other day, and I realised that I actually lack a lot of basics, so I've been focusing on stocking up more of them! Sadly, basic shirts seems to be hiding from me no matter where I shop. So I've resorted to online shopping haha!

I find that buying basics online is often a lot cheaper than buying them in retail stores (or maybe that's because I live in Australia). Right now I'm eyeing this white, chiffron shirt  with studded collar found here that seem to match almost everything in my wardrobe! It is from Garage, which is an online store that sells a lot of uni-friendly clothes at really affordable prices! Uni kids, go check it out! :)

Off to London

I'm off to London tomorrow for the first time ever for a college interview! I'm so, so excited but that feeling is somewhat offset by my nerves for the interview haha!

Last night my two closest friend came over to wish my good luck, leaving me these adorable, delicious treats. Thank you guys so much, I am honestly the luckiest girl in the world to have you two.

A few days ago I also celebrated the 18th birthday of someone who appears a lot on this blog...
Happy B'day Kathy!
Please excuse my derp face :)

Shoes galore :D

New dress from Forever New

Thanks to everyone who commented on the last post, I promise that I'll read+reply to all of them when I come back from London!

Freedom

Top - Valleygirl/ Shorts - Mossman/ Shoes - London Rebel
Necklace - Sportsgirl/ Bag - China
Bracelet - DIY/ Rings - Maniamania & Sportsgirl

The tastiest, fattiest and most filling cookies and cream frappe ever!

Today I finished my last IB exam! The moment we got out of the exam room, my friends and I started laughing hysterically. Even now, I still can't believe that my high school life, and everything associated with it, has ended. The exams passed by way faster than I expected, now I just have to wait for my score haha!

After we finished our exams in the morning, my friends and I went for the longest, biggest shopping trip that we've all been waiting for the last 2 years (during which we all resorted to online shopping lol). We went to Bridge Road, Chapel St, Melbourne Central, CBD and there were so many pre-Christmas/end of year sales on, and we all bought so much! You'll be seeing my purchases in the upcoming posts, but here are some sunnies that I bought from Dotti for this summer,

Dotti is actually having a "Buy 1 get 1 free" offer with their sunnies right now, definitely worth checking out :)

On another note, even though it's already summer here in Melbourne, and the temperature is steadily rising each day, I've been seeing a lot of colourful, summery jeans around! I think jeans are really nice to pair with crop tops and a blazer, especially since it can be a chilly at night even in the summer. (damn Melbourne weather!). Besides, I love it how jeans can conveniently hide those awkward sock tan-lines from your "must slim down for summer" runs (See the  very first photo for my awkward sock tan-line).
This is why I've been eyeing out these bright, light-washed jeans from here, what do you guys think about jeans in the summer?

The Morning After Clutch

The mini Morning After Clutch (M.A.C) by Rebecca Minkoff in electric pink!

The chain can be doubled up to form a shoulder bag or just left long for a cross-body look :)

A cute dog clasp that reveals a front pocket

Look at the stud detailing on the bottom of the bag!

I bought this Rebecca Minkoff mini M.A.C from a lovely seller on ebay a few days ago at a price that is insanely lower than the RRP. But that's because there are some obvious wear to this pre-owned bag (which I wouldn't show you unless you see me IRL haha!) thus the awesome price!
But I have to say, despite the minimal wear and tear, the bag seems very durable.
Yes I'm so obsessed with it.
It's actually the first neon and the first pink item I bought for myself...usually I would never consider buying something like this, but I am going to wear this so often that all of you will get sick of seeing it in my outfit posts soon! :D

Anyway, back to studying.
I shall leave you with one last photo of my new baby =)
